According to the Chinese customs authorities, China's finished steel product exports and imports in September this year amounted to 5.15 million mt and 1.20 million mt respectively. In the January-September period China's aggregate volumes of finished steel exports and imports amounted to 40.94 million mt and 10.52 million mt, up 10.2 percent and down 12 percent respectively, both year on year.   
Meanwhile, based on data from China's National Bureau of Statistics, in the first nine months of the current year total output of crude steel in China came to 542.343 million mt, including 57.946 million mt produced in September. Accordingly, apparent crude steel consumption in China in the first three quarters totaled 510 million mt, up two percent year on year. Meanwhile, apparent crude steel consumption in China in September totaled 53.03 million mt, decreasing by 0.2 percent compared to the same month last year
